2012 William Angliss Resort Programs Mt Buller Team Challenge

The William Angliss Resort Programs Mt Buller Team Challenge is Australia's fastest growing corporate race, it incorporates the former Interclub Racing, and is scheduled for Friday 24 - Saturday 25 August 2012.

The event's format will allow teams of three or more skier's and/or snowboarders representing their company, club or team to compete in a highly competitive but friendly environment.

Racing

Location: Little Buller Spur
Holden Express lift opens at 7.15am
Course Inspection: 8.00am
Course inspection finishes: 8.45am
Race start time: 9.00am


Racing will involve a morning start on Little Buller Spur featuring a top to bottom Giant Slalom race (pending conditions). Each team member will be given two runs and the combined score for the three highest finishing competitors for each team will be used to determine team placing.

 

Teams


Teams consist of three or more competitors, which can be made up of any combination of skiers and/or snowboarders, males and females.

Teams will be allocated points based on their lowest three individual aggregate times.

Competitors who are disqualified or do not finish their first run will still be welcome to have their second run, though times will not count for their team. Racing will occur in the following age categories;-

- Under 16
- Open
- Masters (30-39)
- Advanced Masters (40-49)
- Veterans (50-64)
- Super Veterans (65+)

The category of each team will be determined by its youngest competitor. For example: all competitors in a Veterans team need to be 50 plus years of age. Teams will also be ranked into A, B and C grade categories based on where they finish in the overall field.

 

Trophies


Trophies will be awarded to the overall First, Second and Third placed teams based on aggregate times in each category. The quickest mixed gender, all female and discipline teams (Skier and Snowboarder combination) teams will also receive awards.

 

Julian Storey Memorial Trophy


The Julian Storey Memorial Trophy will be held in conjunction with the William Angliss Resort Programs Mt Buller Team Challenge.

This prestigious event for males aged 40 to 49 years, will be held in conjunction with the Mt Buller Team Challenge. There is no entry fee for the Julian Storey Memorial Trophy however eligible males must be members of a team in the Mt Buller Team Challenge. The trophy will be presented at the Whitt on Saturday 22ndt August at the same time as the Mt Buller Team Challenge results presentation.

By way of history: Julian Storey had been skiing since his University days, mainly at Mt Buller but also many places around the world. He died on the Bull Run from a heart attack in 1990. He was in his forties and his ashes have been laid to rest at Buller.

His mother, Lady Madeline Robinson formally of South Africa and London, made this memorial trophy available so that future generations of forty year old skiers can gain pleasure competing for the cup. Sir Albert and Lady Robinson, visited Australia in February 2003. They kindly invited all the Trophy winners and their partners to join them for dinner at the Alexander Club where the evening was certainly enjoyed by all.

 

Social Activities


The William Angliss Resort Programs Mt Buller Team Challenge is designed to be a social event as well as a sporting contest.

The official Presentation Party will be held on Saturday 25th of August at the Whitt (Ski Club of Victoria). Mt Buller's exclusive Members Only bar will throw open its doors for competitors to enjoy the hospitality of the events' sponsors. The night will feature the awarding of all the race category trophies and grooving the night away.

A - Race and Social only $58.00
B - Race, Social and Saturday Adult Lift Ticket $150.00
C - Race, Social and Weekend Adult Lift Ticket $225.00
D - Race, Social and Saturday Child Lift Ticket $105.00
E - Race, Social and Weekend Child Lift Ticket $150.00

Note: Entries received after 6pm on Thursday 23rd August will incur a $60 late fee per team.
